  1. Fear of picking up the telephone. Too many multi level marketers want the internet to do all of the work for them, without any effort on their part. While the internet can be a powerful tool for business building, it is crucial to understand that a network marketing business is still built on relationships. Those relationships are best developed and nurtured through interpersonal interaction. In this world of impersonal email filled with nameless affiliate links, a live human being stands out from the rest of the crowd. It is no secret, that those who follow up with their leads and prospects by phone build a larger customer base and MLM downline in a shorter period of time.

  2. Failing to learn the business. Often a network marketer finds a product that they "fall in love" with, so they set out on a quest to realize their dreams by introducing everyone they know, and even those they don't, to this life changing product. Unfortunately, they have set sail toward their dreams in a boat that is full of holes, with no sail and a broken rudder. In reality, a product may give you a vehicle for pursuing your aspirations, but it is the proven fundamentals of network marketing that give the power and momentum to move that vehicle through the water in an effective manner. Many marketers receive great advice and assistance by those who are already successful in MLM. Sadly, when they are advised to go through a training exercise or take part in a conference call, they often fail to apply that advice. When they are heard from again, it is still the same sad story of how their business is not making any money. This person has neither taken the time nor put forth the effort to learn the principles of succeeding in a network marketing business. They are not equipped and therefore incapbable of moving forward towards network marketing success.

  3. Refusing to make an investment in your multi level marketing business. Many people tend to be very cheap, refusing to spend money unless they absolutely have to. It is critical to realize that if you are going to succeed in your MLM business, you are going to have to make an investment in it. An investment in your business comes in two primary forms: Time and money. We constantly hear the complaining from people who are failing in their network marketing business, but refuse to spend neither the time or money to improve their knowledge and abilities. There are numerous people who go months without generating a single lead, but they still refuse to invest even $50 to learn proven lead generation strategies or acquire a system that will help them do it. Most network marketers will spend more money on product, be it juice or vitamins, so they can hopefully get a meager bonus check for their personal purchases. Unfortunately this doesn't bring success, but it does create negative cash flow. As a business, network marketing is about synergy, not losing money on an autoship program. This point can't be stressed enough. If you are unwilling to invest your time in learning the business of multi level marketing and increasing your skillsets, then you need to consider shutting down your business. The question becomes loud and clear: If you are unwilling to make an investment in yourself and your business....why should anyone else make an investment in you and your business?
