There is a fact that more and more people would like to learn how to play the guitar but not all of them can do that because learning to play guitar is not easy. You should know that learning the basics is just the start, so if you want to be able to play guitar well and get exciting skills which can help you become a good guitarist, it’s important for you to learn how to read guitar sheet music. When you first begin you will be playing single notes but as you progress quite often you may need to play up to 6 notes. Your next step to improving the way you play is to learn to play 2 notes or in this case simple octaves. If you can learn to read and play 2 notes with guitar sheet music you will be well on your way to greatly improving your over all guitar techniques.
If you have intention of learning to read six notes at the time, you should accept that fact that this can set up you for failure. If you want you to be able to succeed, you should take it slow and progress by learning to read one or two notes at a time. The easiest way to learn to read two notes at a time is to play octaves. You can take consideration into some following good steps to take in order to properly read octaves with guitar sheet music.
However, there is an important fact that many guitarists never decide to learn to find the notes on the guitar. They just concentrate on the habit of listening, playing and calculating where the specific note can be played on the guitar. If you can do that slowly, it is easy for you read guitar sheet music. A wish and then a decision to really start learning the notes on the guitar is much better than to use the before mentioned method to find the notes.

Before beginning to play, you want to look over a song and locate two of the same notes that are stacked on top of each other within the sheet music. You will do this by keeping the fingers of your non-dominant hand as close to the strings as possible as you move to an octave on a different string set. It takes time and practice, but it will help you develop into a sound guitarist.
