This is pretty hard to believe, and rightly so because it is not likely true. If you are going to work at home sites then you can believe that you are going to have to work for your money.

It's okay for sites that you're working for that are going to take a small commission of what you have received in return for them finding you work. That is a different entity altogether. But where you are asked to pay to join is something that you need to be a little more cautious about. There are some valid sites however, such as freelancing sites where you pay a membership, but you can clearly see that there are a lot of job opportunities that you are able to bid on.

The other thing you want to watch for from work at homes sites is that if the site has no references or ways that you are able to contact them directly, Then this again is something that needs to be watched and you really should think twice about becoming involved in. You are going to be working for money here, and if there is no control over your getting your payment then you run the risk of doing a lot of work for nothing.

Basically what it is going to come down to is if the work at home site sounds too good to be true, and then it probably is. There are some great work at home sites that will be able to offer you work but you really need to seek these out and check out some valid reviews as well about them. You will basically be able to tell those reviews that are being written by the sites themselves, as opposed to those that are genuine.
