Traditional MLM is slowly dying. No longer does that business model hold true for today's modern entrepreneur. Before I explain let's examine the traditional multilevel or MLM business model. If you think MLM, what's the first image that comes to your mind? A pyramid correct?

Where ideally you're positioned at the top and your MAIN job is to build your network through recruitment. How do you recruit?

Hotel meetings, business opportunities, pitching friends and family members, prospecting at the malls and shopping center. Sounds exhausting? Trust me, it is, I personally did it for 2 years.

You see, the bigger your network, the more money you make because you are compensated for the people in your downline plus your direct selling performances.

Up to know everything sounds find and dandy, but when you put it into real practice you realize that it is only a select few at the top that make most of the money and the people in the middle to the bottom are left doing most of the heavy lifting. Not to mention that the actual company rakes in the money as well.

Why is this? Because the MLM business model is designed to compensate you on how big your organization is and not necessarily your personal selling abilities. How do they do this?

By spreading the total commissions up to 5-7 level deep. (That is why it's called Multilevel Marketing) This means that your check is going to be so tiny, that if you actually want to make a nice living you would need to recruit MASSIVE amounts of people into your business so that eventually those checks add up to a large sum of money.

The MLM Business Model is designed around a concept called "interruption marketing" where you basically are pitching everyone you know and meet with you opportunity without their permission. They never requested your offer, service or opportunity. So in essence you "interrupt" their daily routine to attempt to sell them something. Not a very smart strategy specially in today's modern world.

Sounds like a lot of work and not enough pay, for that stay at your job right?

Do you know how many people go online everyday searching "business opportunities" or a variation of the term? It is estimated that over the next 3 years over 79 million people will start a home based business.
