Whether you are already taking piano lessons, or you haven't started yet, one of the biggest steps you will make at some point is buying your own piano. Because buying a piano is such a costly decision, you want to make sure you choose the right piano for you. Because of this, you need to know just what you are looking for and expect out of the piano you want to buy. Here are some tips when it comes to making sure you buy the right piano for you!
Just how big do you want your piano to be? This is a very important question. You don't want to get a huge piano and have it take up too much room in your house. Just because a piano might be smaller doesn't mean it isn't a good piano. The amount of room you have for the piano should be a factor in your decision.
Start looking at the individually piano models. Ideally you want to get a piano with a full sized keyboard. So if you do get a smaller sized piano, make sure it has the fill sized keyboard! Also... what is your budget? Figure out your budget and try to go with a piano model that is in the higher end of your budget. This way you get a lot more quality out of the piano you choose from.
Now, from here you might find a piano you are interested in at the store. Well, grab a chair and start playing it! Make sure to ask the store owner first if you can play the piano of course. However, if the store owner says no, consider going to another store where you are allowed to test out the piano. When you buy a house you get to walk through it, when you buy a car you get to test it. So why should you skip out on testing the piano? Sit down, test it out. See how it feels. How does it feel in your hands? You're going to be spending hours and hours at the piano that you end up buying. Make sure it feels good to you!
Finally, don't be afraid to ask for someone's advice. Have any friends that are into the piano? Ask them for their recommendations. Or you can ask the store assistants for their recommendation. Working at a music store is a bit different then working at a regular store. Those that work at music stores usually do so because they have a passion for the music. Because of this, you will find that the store employees are often very knowledgeable about the instruments.
Hopefully these tips have helped you and you will be able to buy the piano that fits you perfectly. Remember, do your homework before you buy a piano! You want the best value for your money, and you want a piano that you will enjoy spending many years with. Have fun with your new piano!
