Mougins, situated in the South Eastern corner of France, is without doubt, one of the most wonderful places to visit and live in. This delightful medieval village is a 15 minute drive away from Cannes, the glamorous and glitzy tourist destination.
Here are six reasons to live in Mougins:
Great location and accessibility: Mougins is located in the Alpes-Maritimes Department of Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur, and is a stepping stone to the Alps, Provence, Monaco and Italy. As mentioned before, given its close proximity to Cannes, Mougins is also often the tourist destination for Hollywood stars during the Cannes Film Festival. Mougins is also connected to Paris and other major cities in France and Europe by excellent road and rail connections.
Great views and scenery: Surrounded as it is by the lovely Parc de la Valmasque with its 1,232 acres of forest, the town sits atop a hilly perch and looks down onto a panorama of exceptional natural beauty and colour. Mougins has kept the quality of its environment intact, and offers visitors, from the height of 260 metres, a panoramic view of the ‘baie de Cannes’, the Lérins islands, Grasse and the ‘Préalpes’. The views from the top of the town are quite simply breathtaking.
Great climate and charm: What makes Mougins so popular is its sunny Mediterranean climate, with long warm summers and short mild winters. This area boasts close to 300 days sunshine per year, and rainfall is infrequent. The town has a medieval charm running through its veins – from every narrow street to every other corner. There is a vibrant modern life in the town as well as an authentic history.
Great economy and people: There are wonderful friendly locals in Mougins. Also, there are a good number of foreigners who have settled down here, as there are hi-technology centres of industry situated close to the town. This means that the area is fully equipped to handle British people, there is even a school available, where children can be educated in the British system right up to A Levels.
Great attractions and culture: There is so much to do in and around Mougins that it is hard to know where to start. Take in a little culture by visiting one of the museums or art galleries. You can see Picasso's last home, which is close to the Chapelle Notre Dame de la Vie, with its beautiful gardens all around. Browse the little shops for gifts, and enjoy the excellent arts and crafts which are on sale here. There is also a photography museum, and an automobile museum to keep you entertained.
