Computer ergonomics is one of the most overlooked aspects of a home based business. For all beginners, home based business is much more demanding than it appears. A lot of us tilt or slump while working on the computer which forces our body into uncomfortable positions. These positions can cause a lot of stress in the spine and the neck. Following basic computer ergonomics while working on your home based business would allow you to alleviate recurring symptoms such as headaches and would improve your concentration. We have formulated a few tips, so as to help you work healthier.

Get a Comfortable Chair

If your home based business requires you to work while sitting in the chair, you must invest in a high quality chair. There are actual ergonomic chairs available in the market, which would perfectly suit your workplace, your body as well as the tasks you perform. If you do not wish to buy an ergonomic chair, you can try making some adjustments in your existing chair. Position your chair in such a way that your body would be upright in a 90 degree angle.

Move Around Frequently

Sitting in a single position for an extended period of time can prove to be harmful for the body. Therefore you must change your position frequently. There are many aspects attached to a home based business. Take a walk around your home or simply dangle your shoulders over the chair. Look away from the computer screen and give a little break to your eyes every ten minutes.

Pay Attention to the Lights

While lighting up your workspace, remember that different tasks require different amounts of light and the light requirement differs from one person to another. For an instance, reading a document would require four times the light, as compared to the light required while viewing the monitor. For an instance, people in their sixties usually need 350% more contrast as compared to people in their twenties.

Your main goal must be to make sure that there is no glare and your workspace is not too bright. Ideally, your work place should contain moderate light, equal to 20-40 candles.
