Why try marketing with postcards? You collect postcards for your own memories and to send to others while you are traveling, but they are a lot more useful when used for business marketing. Whether you operate a business online or off, there are five main reasons to have postcard marketing campaigns going at all times:

#1: Postcards don't require much focus from the receiver.

Postcards can be glanced at and instantly absorbed. The receiver doesn't have to sit down and seriously think about the message you are delivering, so they are more likely to look it over. Most people don't have time for long letters and advertisements that take serious study, but they do have a few moments to glance at a short and sweet postcard.

#2: Postcards are more affordable than any other direct mail marketing campaigns.

Postcards are smaller and less complicated to print and they tend to cost less when you order them in bulk than flyers or posters. Plus, the postage to send a postcard is much less than it is to send a stuffed envelope of any size. This makes a postcard campaign through direct mail affordable to virtually any business.

As long as you have a good list of customers or prospects to send the postcards to, this is an affordable way to brand your company and spread the word about sales and other big events happening.

#3: Postcards require much less time assembling for mail.

Postcards are printed, addressed and sent out. You don't have to pay someone or waste your own time stuffing envelopes or otherwise preparing them to be mailed. This saves you time, and of course that means saving more money!

#4: Postcards can be viewed the moment they come out of the mailbox.

The beauty of a postcard advertisement is that the receiver sees the entire content the moment it is drawn out of the mailbox. Letters that are in an envelope may get tossed down with other mail and may not even be opened if the receiver thinks it is junk mail.

A postcard is different because they don't have to open anything to see the message you want to deliver. A well designed postcard will grab their interest and deliver the message the moment they pull it out of the box and glance down at it. You have an instant shot to get them interested, instead of hoping they open the envelope so you can wow them.

#5: Postcards allow you to easily track bad addresses.

If you label each postcard with "Return Address Service Requested" the post office will send any postcards that cannot be delivered back to you. This allows you to mark those bad addresses off your list so you don't continually send them out to someone who has moved. This will save you a lot of money and make your record tracking much easier.

Marketing with postcards is easier, simpler and faster than many other forms of direct advertising. Once you have a good list going you can send the same people postcards on a routine basis in order to keep your business in the forefront of their mind.

You may even send out special postcards with special deals from time to time for customers that are likely to make more frequent purchases. Just don't send them out so frequently you become a bother. Keep a few other marketing campaigns happening as a backup as well!
