There are many causes of hypertension. Some people have high blood pressure due to circumstances or pregnancy. Other people are genetically coded for high blood pressure. Whatever the reason behind your high blood pressure, if you have hypertension then you need to treat it one way or another.
However, there is not one perfect hypertension treatment. Instead, there are many different hypertension treatment options. Here are some of the most common hypertension treatment options.
Medication
Medication is probably the most common hypertension treatment option. This is one of the easiest options in that all you need to do is remember to take your medication. However, it is not really that simple. Hypertension medication can cause many different side effects that are actually worse emotionally and mentally than the actual hypertension.
Hypertension is a silent killer that many people do not even realize that they have. They will, however, realize when they start feeling awful because of the medication that they are on. It is important to talk to your doctor to figure out what treatment option works best for you in your unique situation.
Remember, there are other hypertension treatment options so if your medication is not working for you or fitting into your lifestyle choices, talk to your doctor or do your own research to see what else is available for you.
Alternative Treatment Options
Many people do not like taking medication, whether they just do not like the idea of ingesting chemicals or have had problems with medication in the past. Whatever the reason, there are other alternative hypertension treatment options out there. Many naturally occurring herbs and supplements have been shown to lower blood pressure.
Great advances are being made in this department as many more people are choosing to be "green" rather than use chemicals and non organic materials. Because of this, researchers have recently shown garlic powder to be an excellent way to lower blood pressure. However, this must be taken under close supervision of a health provider as it thins the blood and can cause complications when taken in conjunction with other medications.
Another great alternative treatment option is following a strict heart healthy diet specifically for those suffering from high blood pressure. Though this particular low sodium diet can be difficult to follow, it will allow you, in many circumstances, to remain relatively drug free in your hypertension treatment.
Exercise and other herbal supplements can aid in keeping your body drug free. Make sure to talk to your doctor about these hypertension treatment options before beginning anything new as some people will be unable to handle specific treatments.
