Internet Marketing

Many local businesses are now turning their marketing efforts to the internet. For one good reason is that they all want targeted traffic. All businesses want to see more return on their investment so it makes sense and dollars. So many local businesses are turning to pay per click campaigns like Google ad words or Yahoo sponsored search which is great but after a few months they don't get the results they want and stop their ppc marketing or throw more money at the pay per click campaigns.

Local business internet marketing campaigns are different to market than an ecommerce or nationwide site. You have to figure out who you want to advertise to and what you want them to know. Sounds very basic and easy but many get lost in the many other options that apply to pay per click advertising. Now that you have that you must do your keyword research to determine what keywords are best to push for your company. You must optimize your ads for users and not for search engines as Ad words and yahoo search engine pay per click advertising holds no SEO value. The cost of these campaigns can be very expensive, especially if not done correctly. I personally prefer to start a campaign with long tail keywords and landing pages that go anywhere but your home page. It's straight to the point and shows the user exactly what they were searching for online.

Internet marketing is much more than ppc campaigns. Internet marketing consist of search engine optimization, deep linking, ppc campaigns, banner ads, text links, article submissions, website directory submissions, book marking, email campaigns, social media, video sites and much more. There is no correct or incorrect way it is up to your or the Internet marketing company to determine what blueprint is best for your site. I personally like to use a combination of every thing to get the results a business is looking for. If it is a local company I try to do all I can on sites that either discusses the geographical area or the type of business the company is offering.

Measuring results is a necessity when it comes to marketing online and patience is a virtue. Most organic SEO can be measure on a three month basis. So make changes accordingly. PPC varies and it depends on the goal of the campaign. Once I feel the ppc ads are optimized to my liking I wait usually 4 weeks before making any changes unless there is a significant drop in click per impression. Most other forms of online advertising will also be a monthly measurement and every one has a different style. I like to us Google Analytics to see how affective the different avenues of ads are doing. I suggest anyone who has a website us Google Analytics as it is free and very useful. Not only will it tell you the amount of people coming to your site and breaks down what keywords are people searching that landed them to your site, what state or country they came from, and many other measurements like bounce rates and ppc effectiveness.
