Everyday, millions of people all around the globe complain of being tired. If you lead a busy, unhealthy and stressful life, it's not surprising that you feel tired and weak oftentimes. This is because your lifestyle and everyday habits are the true causes of your tiredness and fatigue. How you sleep, what you do, how you cope emotionally and how and what you eat describe your health and fitness status.
There are ways to change and correct the habits that tend to sap all of your energy and leave you feeling tired. One, and probably the most important way is getting good nutrition. Proper diet is essential in battling tiredness. Eating the right foods in the right amount and at the right time helps build up the energy that we need to function well.
You can stop being tired and start becoming energized. Here are some fatigue-fighting nutrition strategies that you can follow:
Have breakfast - They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. While some contradict this belief and say that it's not true, the truth is that we need food to have energy. Studies show that people who eat breakfast feel better physically and mentally. They are perkier and less stressed. So for you to have more energy to face the day, you better eat something nutritious for breakfast. A bowl of cereal and some fruits will do you good.
Eat smaller meals - Having 3 healthy mini-meals and 2 snacks or eating every 3 to 4 hours can keep your energy levels up all day long. A healthy small meal consists of carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats. One good meal idea is baked sweet potato, beef tenderloin and asparagus. It's okay to snack on nuts, low-fat yogurt and berries and whole grain crackers. Eating foods that are rich in fiber is also good for you. You can try an air-popped popcorn or black beans and cheese in multigrain tortilla.
Say hello to omega-3s - These essential fatty acids help keep our brain active and healthy. So it's best if you include salmon or tuna and walnuts in your meals.
Keep yourself hydrated - Drinking plenty of water is important to keep the energy-fueling nutrients flowing throughout your body and for better blood circulation. Aside from drinking 6 to 8 (or more) glasses of water a day, you can also eat foods that naturally contain water, like carrots, watermelon and oranges.
