Athletes are always looking for ways to increase their overall performance. HGH, or the human growth hormone, is just one supplement that athletes have started to use in order to enhance their success. The human growth hormone is a hormone that is responsible for several different areas of growth within the body. Because of this it does have several effects on any athlete of any sport that decides to take it. Keep reading if you would like to understand HGH effects on athletes.

One major thing that is important to many athletes is the appearance of their physique. Therefore, many athletes are using HGH to enhance their aesthetic looks. Studies have shown that HGH is able to aid the body with the reduction of body fat and with the development of lean muscle mass. The New England Journal of Medicine published a study in which 21 men regularly took a dose of HGH. Many of those men experienced an increase in lean muscle mass and also a decrease in body fat. Because of studies such as this, it is believed that HGH effects on athletes promote aesthetic enhancements.

The effects of aesthetic enhancement are also believed to be able to promote performance enhancement as well. This is because by increasing the body's overall muscle mass, the person is able to perform better in certain sports. An example of this concept can be found in a football athlete. For instance, the position of an offensive lineman requires the athlete to constantly slam into other athletes. The extra muscle mass may actually help the offensive lineman from sustaining injuries. In addition, the increased muscle mass provides a stronger base of support for the athlete. This concept has not been solidified through research because no conclusive evidence has proven it true.

It has been assumed by many that HGH is able to help the body recover from injury. Both theoretical and practical evidence has been shown to support this theory. One example can be found with athlete Abdul-Karim al-Jabbar, a Miami Dolphin football player. One of this athletes knees seemed to be destroyed, until he turned to HGH. He had previously undergone multiple surgeries trying to repair his knee, but after taking HGH, his knee began to recover. Before he started injecting HGH almost all of the cartilage in his knee was gone, and after he started the injections his knee began to heal. This is only one example that shows HGH effects on athletes.
