Moving companies come in a variety of shapes and sizes. While you might be forgiven for believing that all shipping suppliers provide the same service, you would be very wrong. In fact, international movers and shipping providers all have different niches that they service. Although there are plenty of shipping companies who provide general shipping services, there is a growing number of specialty moving companies who focus on very specific areas including pet and/or exotic animal removals, piano moving and vehicle transportation to name just a few.
The more specialized companies tend to cost a bit more than regular international movers, but the price takes into account several factors including the fact that they have less volume than regular moving companies. Add to that the fact that they must oftentimes purchase specialty equipment to provide specific moving services and that they must train their personnel to know how to handle different situations – and the higher price is not only justified but understandable. However, the regardless of cost, specialty moving services are really do provide individuals and companies with much needed shipping options. Here we will take a look at some of the more specialized moving services that you can find.
Vehicle transportation
If you are moving across the country, then you may not want to add thousands of kilometres to your odometer by driving your car to your new home. Instead, it is much wiser for you to have it shipped to your new location. However, unless you are prepared to expose your vehicle to all manner of risk by transporting it using an ordinary moving company, then you will have to hire specialized car movers to get the job done properly. If your car is an ordinary model that has a few years on it already, then you might opt to have it transported using an open road carrier. However, if your car is a luxury or rare model that cannot afford to be exposed at all, then you will have to hire an even more specialized moving provider – one for luxury vehicles. Such transporters provide closed transports for vehicles requiring greater protection.
Office movers
While ordinary moving companies will be able to provide you with a decent office removal, they may not have the kind of training or expertise needed to help you set your office back up at the new locale. Office movers will not only move your office furniture and equipment, but many of them will also help you to get your computers up and running, place the desks back in the right spot and have the office ready for your employees to walk in and start working the next day.
Piano movers
Moving a piano is a lot trickier than you might think. Pianos are extremely delicate instruments that cannot be jostled around too much or they will lose their tuning, their tone and their pitch. Piano movers have all of the right equipment needed so that your piano will not feel a thing during transit. In fact, some of the really good piano moving companies will actually be able to move your piano without it having to be tuned afterwards.
As anyone who has had to use the services of a specialty moving service will tell you, they are well worth the money they charge.
