For many drugs, the list of side-effects can go on for pages. Even the medications with the least side-effects still come with long and scary lists. However, there might be some confusion about exactly how common some of these are.
Side-effects are usually split into two lists: common and less common (or rare) side-effects. That seems clear enough, but the truth is that most people do not experience any side-effects while on certain medications. Others only experience one, and not very strongly. However, due to FDA regulations, pharmaceutical companies are required to list all of the side-effects that show up in testing.
Now, you shouldn't get the impression that there are no risks when it comes to taking medication. The truth is, there is a decent chance you may experience one or more of these side-effects to varying degrees of intensity. However, the commercials on TV shouldn't fool you into thinking you are going to suffer constant crippling effects as a result of taking a pill. A very unlucky few have an allergy or experience debilitating side-effects, but it is unlikely that you will. The biggest risk when on medications comes from not carefully watching the possible interactions with other substances or ignoring the instructions on how to properly use the medicine.
A third class of side-effects does exist. These are called Severe Side-effects; they should be taken very seriously. If you experience any of them, you should consult a physician immediately. With common side-effects, it is only necessary to talk to your doctor about them if they persist and are problematic in your life.
Common Side-Effects
Tramadol is regarded by the medical community as one of the safer and better tolerated drugs around. That means that most people will not experience any side-effects, while any side-effects that do occur are gone rather quickly. Yet, like any drug, there are risks.
The most common side-effects are:
• Nausea
• Constipation
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Drowsiness
• Vomiting
• Sleep trouble
Less common side-effects include:
• Itching
• Sweating
• Dry mouth
• Diarrhea
• Rash
• Visual disturbances
• Vertigo
Severe Side-Effects
These are the ones you should really look out for. Once more, if you experience any of these, talk to a medical professional right away.
• Seizure
• Severe allergic reaction such as hives or swelling of the lips and tongue
• Disorientation
• Depression
• Difficulty breathing
• Tightness of chest
• Difficulty urinating
• Irregular heartbeat
Very few patients have experienced the severe side-effects of Tramadol. Constipation is most common because of the binding properties of the opioid drug; most constipation can be easily treated using a number of herbal or medicinal remedies.
Over two decades of frequent use, Tramadol has proven to be one of the most effective, safe, and reliable pain killers available. It works by changing the way the body experiences pain. Tramadol is most often prescribed to relieve light to moderate pain, usually chronic in nature, and works around the clock to allow people who suffer from pain to live a more comfortable life.
