"Tweet" and "Tweet - iPad Edition" are twitter clients for the iPhone, iPod and iPad that have a combination of unique features, and unlike some of the competition, they actually work!
The multiple columns are a great feature if you manage multiple accounts. You're able to swipe between different accounts on the screen in either portrait or landscape modes. What's nice it that the app will automatically scroll down to the last read tweet to save you trying to find out where you left off. It also had badges to show how many new tweets, mentions and direct messages you have.
If you're stuck in a plane, subway or anywhere else where you just aren't able to connect to the internet this little app also stores Tweets so you can still catch up on things. Speaking of storing tweets you can also store Tweets with their avatars in the Contacts (the address book) and with a bit of playing around with the syncing you can have them show up in your Exchange contacts too!
It's really nice to be able to touch on pictures in the timeline to load and view the larger image. Not only can you do this for avatar's but also picture service links. That is it displays the image in the timeline as well as the picture service (twitpic, mobypicture, etc.) link. It's really nice to see the actual picture that was tweeted while you are scrolling through tweets.
When you're tweeting you have the option to save to drafts if you want to Tweet later or just can't get a internet connection. Each different account you enter has it's own set of drafts to keep you organized. Being able to send out an audio tweet is handy too when you don't feel like typing. Of course you can also post pictures to the picture services like TwitPic, MobyPicture and Twitrpix.
Touching on hyperlinks to open the web page in the browser. When you touch a hashtag the lastest tweets with that hashtag come up. Touching on a mention give options to reply to and get more info on that user.
Another timesaver is being able to create color coded tweets. Some twitter clients have filters that totally block out tweets. I like the color coding option so you can still see what's going on and highlight whose tweets you don't want to miss. You're able to mix the primary colors red, green and blue to create any color you want. It's also possible to send map links and geocode tweets. (for geocoding you need to log in to your Twitter account via the web and enable this feature).
This is also one of the few twitter clients to support public timeline and show popular tweets in searches. Also all the trends are supported. I mean current, daily, weekly and regional. Of course there's also list support as well.
The best feature of them all is that it is free. Don't know how long it will be though so grab this one fast! @tweetforiphone on twitter.
