If you go looking around at videos and little blogs to learn the piano you are off to a good start. I started playing the piano only a couple years ago and I found all the you tube videos and pages that would offer free beginners piano lessons. But basically you can only find so much information that is free before it runs out.
Pretty much here is the most you can learn, but if you are just beginning you need to know this. You need to learn scales, how to form major, and minor scales. This is very basic to learning the piano and you should learn all of the different scales and practice and get them down pat. This is very important because if you are really serious about learning the piano you must have a good understanding of the foundation to the piano. And then you can start building on top of that,
The second thing you need to learn is how to form the three basic chords. Major, minor, and diminished. If you are a beginner you probably wont be using the diminished for a little while. But it is good to understand how they are formed so when you do arrive at the time that you would use them you will know it.
Well like I said this amount of information, and a little bit of tips and tricks can be found online for free. But after you have a good understanding of these things, if you just try to find more free lessons you will spend more time looking for something you don't already know then actually practicing something new. You will come to a point where you will not go any further until you buy online piano lessons.
My advice to you is just go ahead and buy them, you can find all this information free online, but if you just go ahead and buy lessons you will get all this information, and then it will take you the rest of the way. You will find yourself learning and practicing, instead off wasting time looking for a free lesson with information you already know.
