A moving checklist is the best way to ensure a smooth removal. From an office relocation to an international move, nothing can help you stay organized better than a moving checklist. Regardless of whether you have chosen to hire a moving specialist to take care of your removal or if you are doing the whole thing by yourself, the only way to get everything done on time and under budget is to have an inclusive moving checklist to keep you on track. Therefore, either finding or creating a good moving checklist is the first step to take when faced with an office relocation or an international move.
Once you have your moving date, the next thing to do is determine what needs to get done before the moving trucks show up at your doorstep. Listing the details of your move will make it easier for you to prepare. If you are unsure of what needs to get done first, then start off by simply listing everything that needs to get done. After that you can rearrange the items to best fit a proper relocation timeline.
Naturally, your moving checklist will be different depending on the kind of removal you are facing. Let us take a look at two of the most different kind of relocations you might ever face – an office removal and an international move.
Office Removal
The office removal has a unique set of logistics that require a high level of organisation. If you have been placed in charge of such a relocation then you will want to get all of the department managers on your side. Make a moving checklist that includes office equipment, employees, supplies, computers, moving companies, suppliers/clients/associates to call, etc. Next have all of the department managers take an inventory of their sections so that you are aware of what must be moved to your new location. It is a good time to weed through old office equipment and furniture and decide whether you will be acquiring new items or sticking with the old. Next create a plan on how the moving will take place. List every move on your moving checklist along with a timeline for when you expect those items to be accomplished. Remember that computers and office equipment should be the last to get unplugged and/or dismantled at your old place and the first things to be put back together at your new place, so that when your employees show up in the morning, they do not have to waste time waiting to get set up. As long as you have your moving checklist with you, no office removal will be too complicated.
International Move
An international move is also a tricky removal to plan and hence requires a good moving checklist to keep you on track. Along with the usual hiring of movers and packing that needs to get done, you will also have to ensure that you have the proper paperwork, visas, work permits and meet all of the conditions required by your new country in order to enter legally. By using a moving checklist and breaking down all of the tasks into a timeline you will be able to obtain the documents, movers and other elements needed to make your international move easier.
