Sinusitis can be best defined as a condition wherein the sinus cavities get inflamed. Usually, the most common cause of inflammation is fungus infection, common colds, and allergens. The condition of sinusitis is actually not very serious but the symptoms associated with inflamed sinuses can be very tormenting. When we talk about inflamed sinuses, symptoms will always include runny nose, coughing due to post nasal drip, frequent sneezing, throbbing facial pains, headache, and dizziness. There are even some cases wherein the vision of the sinus sufferers is affected in one way or another. All the other symptoms are quite easy to understand and withstand, however, the sinusitis dizziness can be a bit confusing and intolerable.
When people that have sinus problems start to feel dizzy, it is sometimes an indication that inflammation or infection has already reached the middle ear. You might be wondering how it would be possible. This is occurrence is definitely possible because sinus infection is not limited only to the sinuses. Infection in the sinuses can also progress to an infection in the auditory tube which connects your throat to your middle ear. The auditory tube also produces mucous when irritated. Accumulation of mucous secretion in the auditory tube will transmit unusual information to the vestibular apparatus which will then cause dizziness to the person affected. The feeling of dizziness is indeed very tormenting for those who are suffering from sinusitis. Recovery from sinus dizziness is possible with some proven home remedies which is oftentimes are found more effective than over the counter medications.
In order to get rid of the dizziness associated with sinusitis, it is necessary to clear the sinuses from secretions. But it’s not that simple as it sounds. Clearing up your sinuses could take you several days or sometimes weeks. Thus in order to relieve yourself from sinusitis dizziness you may try some home therapies. Making a hot steam of tea from a ginger root is effective in relieving dizziness. A hot ginger steam works by locally increasing the temperature and blood flow to sinus and respiratory passages paying particular attention to the auditory tube. This is the most common method used by people who prefer to go for natural remedies rather than taking prescription drugs which may be detrimental to your health because of its side effects. The increase in blood flow liquefies the mucous causing it to drain properly. Another advantage of an increased blood flow is that it facilitates increase of immune cells which helps address the inflammatory problem. Drink the ginger tea at least 3x a day for 4 days so that you will get the adequate relief. But take note that the dosage of ginger tea will vary from person to person. Stronger tea will cause sweating after drinking. If you are suffering from any problems concerning your heart, it is best not to try any home therapy without consulting health professionals first. Therefore rule of the thumb is: Consult your local physician before starting any home therapy.
