First of all, it's important for people to realize that they could be hosting bed bugs and not even know about it, bed bugs bites are numbing so you would not even feel it and they also feed during the evening while you are sleeping.
Bed bugs can find humans because they can sense the body heat and the carbon dioxide given off while we breath in our sleep. After finding the human host during the evening, the bed bug then bites and injects a anticoagulant and anesthetic into the blood. This allows the bed mite to draw blood from your bloodstream while you don't even notice it because of the injections.
Symptoms of a Bed Bug Bite
Most of the time, people who have been bitten by bed mites not even realize it because they make the mistake of thinking the bite is from a mosquito or other insect. And many times even doctors mistake bed bug bites for allergic reactions or skin rashes. Once you know what the actual symptoms of the mites, it then becomes very easy to identify their bites.
One of the best signs of a bed bug bite are the raised red bumps are often found in linear arrangements on the skin. Your skin will also develop intense itching from the bites, this usually takes place about a few hours after the mite has been feeding on your blood.
If you do feel you have been a target of bed mites, you should take a closer look at your body, sheets, covers and mattresses. Bed bugs, especially the older ones, are very visible to the untrained eye, so a thorough check of these items may lead you to the source of the infestation.
Treating The Itch Caused By Bed Bug Bites
A quick remedy for the bites is to run lukewarm water of the bites for a few minutes or so; this will help reduce the swelling and provide some relief for the itching.
