It is time to follow up with your new leads after you have made an initial connection with them. If you do not do follow up you might as well not have made a connection because your interaction with the new lead will end there. Making that first call might have been something that you were a little bit uncomfortable doing. If you performed your connecting duties correctly this second call should be a lot easier to do. In order to make your lead feel comfortable you would have struck up a conversation about something that you both have in common. Pointing out that the two of you have something in common bridges the differences between you. Now you have a warmer lead.

Now that the prospect has been given a little more information about the opportunity you are offering them, this is the point in team building that you will follow up. There are several different options for doing this. This is a great benefit to you because you will have different tactics to take with different people who present different issues. For instance, if you were on the phone with someone who was also on his computer you can take that opportunity to give him your URL. If this is the case you can immediately send this prospect to a website where he can immediately learn more information. You can still send your prospect to your website if she is not currently at her computer by asking for an email address that you can send the URL to. If there is no other option you can send them the information by mail. A better idea is after a meeting with someone, have the materials ready to give him on the spot. Whatever you choose will be the tactic that makes it easiest for that particular prospect to receive your information.

After the prospect has been given a day or two to read the information you have given him there will need to be an appointed time to talk about joining the business; this is the next step in team building. When you set a time you are going to want to show your prospect there is flexibility in your routine. We don't want to give the prospect an excuse to not show up for your meeting, so make sure that the time he chooses is truly the best time for him. To let your prospect know that you will make yourself as available as you can to her in the future, you should demonstrate this idea now when setting the appointment. After the time and day are chosen you will give them your phone number even though you are the one who is going to be doing the calling so that she can let you know if something comes up and she cannot make your appointment. It is only right that people tell you if they need to cancel the appointment.

The next step is a highly important step in team building. But suppose that you call the prospect right when you said you would and you get no answer. The prospect did not call you to tell you it would not be possible to attend the meeting. There are two thoughts that can run through our heads at this moment: There might have been an emergency and the prospect was not able to get to a phone to call you or this is an unreliable person. There is a chance that there is an explanation for why your prospect missed the call and you should give the prospect a chance to give it to you. In this case you can leave a message on the answering machine that your prospect undoubtedly has with the time that you will call again.

You will not want to lose a prospect unnecessarily so you will wait to find out what happened to the prospect and if you will be continuing your team building strategy with this particular person. If the prospect is truly interested you will be able to continue the process and possibly have a new team member. It is advisable to be patient because you might lose someone who would sign up with you if you gave him or her another chance to do so.
