Today, many people are looking for the magic quick fix. While fad diets or pills may seem to shed pounds within the first couple of weeks, the weight will come back in the long run. The reason is that these diets are extreme, unhealthy, and not a permanent lifestyle change.
To successfully lose weight for good and maintain that weight loss, a healthy weight loss plan needs to be put into place. This includes not only cutting back on calories, but also eating a well-balanced diet. Foods rich in protein and fiber will give you the proper nutrients and fill you up for a longer period of time. In addition, you'll have more energy. By consuming foods with nutritional value, you will not be eating "empty" calories. Still, there is always room for a treat every now and then, but the key is to eat those items in smaller portions, infrequently, and in moderation.
While you can lose weight just by following a proper diet high in protein and fiber and low in fat, regular exercise is the second key component to a healthy weight loss plan. By exercising, you are burning even more calories, which means you will lose the weight faster. You will feel more energetic and sleep better, too. Regular exercise can be something as simple as going for a walk in your neighborhood. Start small with what you can do and build upon that. You'll find that once you start exercising and feeling great, it will become a welcomed habit in your life. It's the first step that is the most difficult.
Every healthy weight loss plan must have diet and exercise as the foundation. Pills and fad diets may give you short term results, but those results won't last. In addition, such diets can be dangerous to your health. In the long run, diet and exercise is the most successful way to lose weight. The key is plan your meals and workout schedule in advance.
