Scabies is a parasitic infection of global proportion which is not biast by race or cleanliness. It is estimated that there is over 300 million active cases of scabies a year which is widespread worldwide. Better known as 'Sarcoptes scabiei var hominis', scabies is a very highly contagious skin infestation which occures under the first layer of the skin, typically found in folds and creases such as knuckles, fingers and elbows. A normal case of scabies a person may have between 6 and 20 mites underneath the skin, in a case of Crusted or Norwegian scabies the infected person may have thousands or millions of the bugs.
