Many of us associate joint pains with old age or arthritis. Indeed, joint pains are normally experienced by older people due to joint disorders such as arthritis. Joint pains affect millions and though it is common with old age, it can actually strike at any age. Joint pains can be the worst kind of pain anyone can experience. People suffering from joint pains. may not be able to do the usual things they do because even small movements of the joints may cause them to cringe with pain.

Causes of Joint Pains

Painful joints are caused by several factors. The most common cause is arthritis, which is the inflammation of the joints caused by the depletion of the cartilage that serves as cushion between the adjoining bones. As people age, the cartilage wears down, allowing the bones to rub against each other and cause Painful Joints known as osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis causes chronic joint pains that affected individuals have to deal with all their lives largely because the condition has no cure. These individuals however can be helped by various remedies indicated as treatment for joint pains.

Arthritis is uncommon among young people. But then, young people can also suffer from joint pains. Injuries are the major cause of joint pains in young people. Athletes and young people who are into sports are likely to encounter injuries and accidents that result in joint pains. The areas of the affected joints swell, reddened and painful. Sometimes, injuries that caused redness and swelling of joints does not need for medications because rest may be enough. In some cases, however, joint pains need immediate attention and require joint pain treatment.

Other than arthritis and injuries, infectious diseases may also cause joint pains. Rheumatic fever, mumps, chicken pox, influenza and obesity are normally associated with painful joints. These conditions may cause soreness and inflammation of the joints, which if left untreated, may cause progression into a more serious problem. Joint pains caused by any of these conditions therefore require immediate treatment.

Remedies for Joint Pains

Oral medications are the most common treatment used in controlling painful joints. These drugs are not without side effects. In fact, due to their side effects, doctors closely monitor patients under these medications to avoid any of the potential side effects from occurring. The side effects also prevent regular use of these drugs but because some types of joint pains such as osteoarthritis require continuous treatment, affected individuals may use joint supplements instead. joint pain supplements have no adverse side effects even with long term use, which makes it ideal treatment for joint pains.

Joint pain supplements normally contain natural inhibitors of cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2), which is responsible for pain, swelling and redness of the joints. COX-2 is normally combined with hyaluronic acid (HA) since these compounds work effectively together. Glucosamine and chondroitin are another compounds present in joint pain supplements. These compounds have been scientifically proven to work together in relieving painful joints and improving the flexibility and mobility of joints, while the vitamins and minerals help maintain healthy joints.

Joint pain supplements have no known adverse effects; hence, these supplements do not only work as treatment. These supplements can be used continuously to maintain the flexibility and mobility of joints.
