Do you want to become a writer who actually earns income writing? You will enhance your earnings when you avoid this huge mistake. Freelance writing for profit is significantly easier once you genuinely connect with your readers.

You've got a particular subject of competency and you wish to share it with others. Writing usually comes much easier when you're knowledgeable, even passionate, about your topic. You've got the info and now you must convey that information to your readers in a way that keeps them involved and reading. The last thing you want to do would be to offend or annoy them, yet numerous writers do that inadvertently.

As an author, words are your tools, your means of expression. A substantial vocabulary is certainly valuable if not absolutely essential to develop into a writer. The big mistake a lot of would-be writers make is to attempt to impress their readers with too many big, impressive words or technical jargon. Your reader doesn't want to know how many big words you use and he'll get lost in jargon he does not understand. Always keep in mind, your objective is always to present information in such a way that helps make sense to the reader and retains his interest.

Think of somebody you know, the guy who's absolutely crazy about, let's say, films. You like movies, but when this guy starts speaking it sounds like another language with all of the technical jargon. Or else he sounds like a snob utilizing a bunch of big, fancy three-dollar phrases. Perhaps he's a pretentious name dropper and his entire conversation feels like it's meant only to impress you. Even if he tends to make a good point about movies, you don't care anymore since he's such a jerk.

Remember, to become a writer, a helpful author, you have to relate to your reader. Write like you're speaking to your friend. Communicate your thoughts in a way that keeps your reader engaged and wanting far more. Seek to inform your audience, do not try to impress them. Here's a little tip to make a point and help you remember, "Eschew Obfuscation."
