Article Writers must remember to kiss (keep it short and simple). Overly complex and overly long articles will be ineffective. Though your article may need to cover a complex topic, unless you are able to simplify the topic an article may not be your best marketing choice.

Long articles may need to be shortened and divided into a series of articles rather than one very long article. As a good rule of thumb, try to stay under 700 words when writing an article. A good word count is 400 to 500 words.

How to Handle Long Articles

If your article is on the longer side you should make sure it is broken into several sub-sections. Since most Internet users skim rather than read content you will actually be doing yourself and your readers a favor.

Keep each section of an article about one main point and then have another sub-title for the next section. This makes your article look less cumbersome and also be less cumbersome to read.

Articles as a Series

If the topic you are covering will require more than 700 words you should consider breaking up the topic into smaller points and covering them in a series of articles.

People can be overwhelmed when they see a large quantity of words on a webpage. Marketing research has shown that people are much more comfortable with 400 or less words per page. Keeping it short will help the overall impact of your article marketing campaign.

Simplify Important Points

You are an expert on what you are writing about. You know the material inside and outside. Chances are your audience will know considerably less than you. Do not take anything for granted and try to give simple, short points that are easy to follow.

As you write your articles try to consider the order the points are made in. If your article has a natural progression people will respond better to it. Their response is the key to success of article writing.

Preface and Summary

Your articles should all start with a brief and clear beginning that gives readers an understanding of what the article is about. This will help them decide if it is on point or not before they become frustrated if it is not. A summary paragraph is also important to wrap up the point being made. Keep these rules in mind, keep your articles short and simple and you can succeed with article marketing

.

A lot of website owners engaging in article marketing neglect to include a link to their website in the body or the author bio of the article. Anyone can write the best article in the history of man, but there would be absolutely no value in it if you fail to have links

from the article to your site.
