Oil Spill Cleanup Is a Necessary Task

Once an oil spill happens, cleanup efforts are immediately deployed and he work is not done until the oil is either cleaned up or the beach is stabilized. Until then, wildlife is on the danger list and people are told to stay away from the beaches because they might be contaminated with putrid oil. However, there are some oil spill cleanup efforts taking place that can alleviate most of these existing problems. Sometimes beach nourishment is the answer. This is where sand from another beach is transported in and placed on top of the existing sand. It usually is white beach sand from Florida, the kind that attracts people in postcards or on television. In reality, it can not only bring the tourists, but it can stabilize a beach where wildlife can again have a place to habitat. While some may say that nourishment speeds up the erosion process, it does help bring life to a beach that otherwise would be destroyed in either an oil spill or through the erosion process.
Another way of helping oil spill cleanup efforts is by placing HESCO® Concertainer® units under the sand. These units are made out of a mesh wire frame and geotextiles. You just fill them up with sand, place them strategically along the beaches (sometimes even in the water) and they will provide a stable core for your beach. This is great for spots that are prone to hurricanes that erode the beaches faster. Also, they can be installed fast in most cases under 20 minutes. This is great when a storm is on the way or an oil spill. Cleanup efforts are made easier because the oil that is in the water will meet the units first before they reach the sand. If you place an agent like Enviro Armour™ in the units, which are permeable, then the oil will be transformed into a solid that can be recycled into a raw material. This makes the HESCO® units even more effective and eases the oil spills clean up efforts by a large margin.
Sterling Building Specialists is able to provide the HESCO® units for oil spill cleanup and will work with any property owner to make sure they are installed correctly.
