Warts are not a pleasant experience for anyone. Apart from the fact that they look horrible and can cause depression, embarrassment and a host of other psychological problems, they can also be painful, itchy and irksome. While most warts do disappear eventually, without treatment it may take months or even years for the body to counter the virus that causes them. Of course, there are quick-acting medical wart treatments available, but they are not necessarily gentle on the body or the pocket. Laser treatments, freezing, injecting, and surgical procedures don't exactly sound fun. Besides, they may leave glaring scars on the body, which are not pleasant either. Keeping this in mind, it is worth trying out some simple wart removal home remedies for a few weeks before going for drastic measures. These remedies involve easily available ingredients and do not carry any side-effects.
Know If It is a Wart
Before treating warts, you must first be sure that what has appeared on your skin is actually a wart and not something else. For this it is necessary to consult a dermatologist. A surprisingly large number of people have suffered all over the world by erroneously considering a cancerous skin growth a wart. If it is a wart, the first advice that the doctor will give you is to not touch it, since wart infections are contagious and can spread to other parts of the body through touch.
Bandage and Castor Oil
Keeping the affected skin area covered with a medical tape bandage is standard wart treatment advice. Do this for 2-3 weeks continuously, only changing the tape once a week for hygiene purposes, and the warts may well come off. A more effective variation to this method involves applying plain castor oil to the wart-infected skin twice a day. After application, the bandage should be immediately restored. Alternatively, the castor oil can be mixed with baking soda to get a thick paste, and this can be applied instead.
Vitamin A-Oil
Obtain vitamin A capsules that contain natural fish-liver oil or fish oil vitamin A. Break open one capsule everyday and apply its liquid to the wart-infected area. Continue this for the next couple of weeks.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has to rank as the most commonly used home remedy for wart treatment. One way of using it is to mix about one cup of the vinegar in warm water and soaking the infected skin in it for about 20 minutes, once everyday. Another way to use the vinegar is to soak a cotton ball in it, cover the infected skin with the cotton and then hold it there overnight with a medical tape.
Garlic and Banana Peels
With the banana peel, its inside part needs to be rubbed on the infected area for a few minutes every night. The potassium in the peel acts as an effective destroyer. As far as garlic goes, it is known for its anti-viral properties. All one has to do is make a poultice of crushed raw garlic. Apply the garlic on the skin immediately after applying vitamin E on it. Then cover the area with a bandage for the next 24 hours, while the garlic acts on the skin. When the bandage is removed the next day, don't be alarmed if a blister has formed. The wart should fall off within 7-9 days.
If these home remedies for wart removal don't work over the next few weeks, do consult a dermatologist.
