If you've tried diet after diet and failed then maybe its time you tried something else. Its been said that the real definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing - expecting a different result. This is sums up what I see with dieters every day. They keep dieting and dieting and then when they don't lose weight they don't know what is wrong with them. If you keep doing the same thing you simply won't get a different results and all diets are essentially doing the same thing.

Detoxes and cleanses became all the rage in the mid 1990's after a few influential talk show hosts started talking about their health benefits. With our modern diets that are high in processed food and low in natural fibers its no wonder we need to detox to help out bodies get rid of all the junk that builds up and to restore its good health. Fasting is an age old concept and many eastern religions practiced fasting as a means to cleanse both the mind and the body. One of the side effects of fasting is weight loss and its this aspect that many modern dieters find particularly appealing.

Fasting has a lot of benefits apart from just losing weight. The important thing to realize however is that if done incorrectly it can be very dangerous and detrimental to your good health. During any fast, you need to make sure that you drink plenty of fluids as you can easily dehydrate. You also need to make sure that you take sufficient supplements to keep your intake of essential vitamins and minerals consistent.

Fasting for extended periods of time is never a good idea. Although you can go without food for 60 days it won't be very good for you. Intermittent fasting is the best way to do it as you will only fast for short periods of time. Not only will this help you lose weight, but it makes the process a lot easier since you don't have the obvious issues with going hungry.

Those who fast regularly report a significant increase in energy. This is mainly due to the cleansing effect that the fast has on your body. Once you get rid of all the toxins that's built up you body don't have to expend all that energy on trying to digest and eliminate the toxins. If you are struggling with sugar addictions, then fasting is a great way to break those bad habits. Try it. You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain!
