These ingredients can be of organic or inorganic in nature. Most of the medicines are produced mostly using various natural elements and are easily available in natural environment. The history of these Pharmaceutical Ingredients can be traced back to earliest civilization. In ancient Roman and Greek period certain medicine were invented using naturally occurring plants. However now with the advancement of the society some of these important medicines are produced using various minerals and chemical substances.
A majority of pharmaceutical companies were opened in the late seventeenth and eighteenth century to product medicine in huge scale. These huge companies survive mostly due to the patent factor provided for their research and development. Key discoveries like the penicillin and insulin were some of the key driver of the industry. Numerous new drugs were discovered and tested in the later stage of the century and thus gave birth to the new pharmaceutical industries throughout the world. It can be noted that with the advancement of these industry there was a huge demand for the Pharmaceutical Ingredients and the same was facilitated later by progress of the economies.
Most of the pharmaceutical ingredient are obtained from naturally occurring element and are easily available in natural environment. However, these Pharmaceutical Ingredients needs to be tested and parts of development are known as research and development. This is an important part of drugs development as the molecules of the Pharmaceutical Ingredient is widely studied and analyzed in the molecular format. This is also the period, when the effect of these molecules of is being tested on a living organism before the drugs production is finalized and sold in the market.
Pharmaceutical Ingredients can be of various types.
Organic: Organic pharmaceutical ingredients are those which are extracted from living organism such as plant animals and in some cases from human beings as well. One of the best examples of organic ingredients is quinine which is a medicine product from a medicinal plant named cinchona. This medicine is widely used as an antidote against malaria. Products are made from organic ingredient are regarded as much safer compare to inorganic ingredients. The usage of this treatment can again be traced back to Rome. Our ancestors were more inclined towards the organic ingredient as they were easier to extract.
Inorganic: Inorganic pharmaceutical are those ingredients extracted from the different non-living thing such as chemicals, composition of different elements. Those are also available in nature however needs to purified for our use. Most of the medicine products available nowadays are produced from these ingredients. Generally the effect of these ingredients remains more vigorous and highly compacted. These ingredients have helped us to save valuable life of victim who has suffered from different illness.
