Hemorrhoids are a painful and common condition that many people suffer from.
Even though not everyone really seems to be familiar with what they really are or be able to tell if they really are suffering from them. In many instances, the signs of hemorrhoids are mixed with other such conditions. Although people don't like to have hemorrhoids, we sometimes have to suffer with them, but there are plenty of methods to treat them. This article will help you to be aware of a few hemorrhoid symptoms.
Hemorrhoids are more prevalent today because people are spending more time sitting at a desk. Sitting causes or inflames hemorrhoids because it puts constant pressure on the lower extremities. So it makes sense that you can alleviate the problem by moving around more and sitting less. For those with jobs that require them to sit most of the day, this can be rather difficult. You can, however, make an effort to stand up frequently and walk around, even if it's only for a few minutes. You may also find it helpful to get a more ergonomic chair. Exercising regularly can also help even if you still have to sit most of the day. Being overweight is another common cause of hemorrhoids, which can also be helped by exercise. Dehydration is something that can either cause or irritate hemorrhoids. If you exercise regularly you'll want to avoid quenching your thirst with such things as soda pop, alcohol or energy drinks to avoid dehydration. Hemorrhoids and constipation are both caused by dehydration as the stools become dry you tend to strain to get them out. You see, it's this that makes drinking plenty of fluids necessary to avoid or alleviate the signs and symptoms of hemorrhoids.
Thrombosed external hemorrhoids are an especially painful condition that usually requires medical attention. Due to a blood clot which forms in the hemorrhoid, this happens and also makes you become inflamed and swollen. When people have this condition, the pain is usually worse when having a bowel movement or sitting down.
These kinds of hemorrhoids, since they are external, can be felt and produce small lumps. A majority of hemorrhoids don't hurt, but if you think that you suffer from thrombosed external hemorrhoids, you might need more than OTC medicine and should see your doctor. In many cases, these blood clots can be removed at the doctor's office as an outpatient procedure. Or, your doctor might want to prescribe medicine that will get rid of them.
The strength of symptoms related to hemorrhoids can be mild to severe. If you are sensitive to spicy foods, you should avoid them until your condition improves. Be sure to contact your doctor if your symptoms don't improve on their own. These are the most common symptoms of hemorrhoids to watch for, but know that no two cases will look the same.
