Your WOW Character: DON’t Buy It!

Maybe you’re a veteran WOW player, maybe you’re a noob. Chances are what vets and noobs have in common is a burning desire to prepare for the release of Cataclysm. If you are deciding whether or not you would like to buy an account or character to be prepared for the release I urge you to read this article first! You may not be prepared for what you are getting into.
What does it mean to buy an account? I’m sure like everyone you have seen information on the web about buying a World of Warcraft character already at 80 wrapped, packaged and ready for your enjoyment all for a whopping low price of a few hundred dollars. Blizzard does not allow any transfer of accounts, toons, gold, items etc… in the "real world." What this means for those of you considering an account purchase is if caught, you will be banned permanently.
Purchasing accounts is generally going to be very pricy. You may not get what you paid for, or you may end up getting nothing at all. There are offers from those who will be happy to "power level" your toon for you, for a fee. You are in severe danger of an account hack when utilizing offers such as these. The less people you give your information out to, the less chance your account will be hacked. Be Careful!
The reality is it can take a very long time to level your character. As someone who has played for years, I can tell you at times it is trying and tedious. But the benefits of leveling your own character far outweigh the time saved to pay someone else to do the job. There is nothing experienced players hate more than being in a group with a level 80 who has no idea how to play their character. This is exactly what will happen if you purchase a pre-made WOW toon. So what is a player like you supposed to do with Cataclysm around the corner? There is a lot of information out there to help you level and play efficiently. I also suggest possibly getting a leveling guidefor alliance, horde or both depending on your play style. The site listed below contains some great information on available WOW leveling guides.
As hard as this is to remember when the fever takes hold, WOW is a GAME. Games are supposed to be fun. Play your toon, work hard, and have fun doing it. The game is designed to teach you as you go. Don’t be "that guy" who has no idea how to play your level 80 in a raid; we can’t stand "that guy."
Happy Playing!
