Anger management - there are millions of reasons to study it. Unfortunately, most people who do have an anger problem deny or minimize it; this is not unheard of. The things we usually do look a little more benign on the inside than to those on the receiving end. The cost of trying to pretend it’s not as bad as it really is or that you don’t have a problem is high. You continue to feel misunderstood, ashamed and rejected and your loved ones and friends suffer the emotional and physical scars of your denial.
Think you might have an anger management problem? Here’s an easy way to figure this out. Keep track of how many questions describe you. If you answer yes to 5 questions or more you very likely would benefit from an anger management class.
-
Has anyone ever been hurt because of your rage?
-
Have people ever described you has having almost an alter ego, i.e. the "nice" you and the "angry" or "mean" you? Would you or anyone else say you become a different person when mad?
-
Does waiting in line or things happening too slow cause you to wrestle with anger management problems?
-
Is it hard for you to stay calm when you feel you are being criticized?
-
Has anyone ever told you that they feel like they have to watch what they say or how they say it around you?
-
Have you said things you later wish you could take back?
-
Would you or anyone else say you become a different person when mad?
-
My problem is that people can't handle the truth.
-
Have you ever been told that you are frightening when you are mad?
-
When angry, have you ever raised your hand or shaken your fist at anyone?
-
I get angry or impatient when there isn't enough time to do what I want to do.
How many questions described you? There is no hard and fast rule, but if you answered yes to five or more of the questions on this anger management test you would probably benefit from an anger management class. How often and how and strongly you become angry is an another way to look at this test. You may have only answered yes to three of the questions but if you do them on a regular basis an anger management class you should think about an anger management class.
