Accounting services may be managed by the hospital or by the treating physician's office. Most often, the hospital will employ the services of a billing management company to handle the various aspects of patient finances.
Collection services for physician or hospital billing are used when patients do not pay their bill on time. Collection agents will attempt to contact the patient by phone or mail in order to collect the amount that is owed to the hospital. If necessary, these collection agents will escalate bills that remain unpaid to other companies who will ensure that the physician is paid.
