Many of agoraphobia sufferers are being mislead by information that there is a specific agoraphobia treatment. The fact is there isn't.Inexperienced doctors and medical practitioners will give you drugs for depression or sedatives which make you feel weak and drowsy. Sometimes they will send you for sessions of counseling. These have both been proven to be very unsuccessful agoraphobia treatments indeed.
For agoraphobia treatment to be successful, it needs to address the source of the high anxiety that causes it. There really is no other agoraphobia treatment.
Why? It is because to get rid of agoraphobia, the system in the mind that causes high anxiety must be address. Medication and psychology DO NOT solve this. In reality agoraphobia cannot happen without the presence of high anxiety. So getting rid of the anxiety at its core will have the instant effect of removing the agoraphobia also. Only this will provide a curative agoraphobia treatment.
Agoraphobia exist when high anxiety causes the "what if" thoughts which are created to produce a risk analysis of our surrounding in order to detect the presence of danger. For example in a room full of lions, the mind asks a list of questions to decide the best course of alternatives to take in order to either "fight" or "flight" the danger. It is this "flight" from danger thought that causes agoraphobia.
When anxiety levels grow in the course of anxiety disorder, symptoms become more apparent. Hence the anxiety control center in the brain "reads" these symptoms as "the threat in the room". You will not know that the mind is doing this because it is totally "subconscious" Once the danger has been known, the mind then makes the decision whether to fight or flee from the threat. Of course, you cannot flee from your symptoms, so instead, you go into "safety seeking mode".
This IS what causes agoraphobia. As we then go from place to place, your anxious mind constantly produces these risk analysis based on your CURRENT location. It always finds that your symptoms to be the danger in that new environment and then it says, "when I am here, I am threatened- so RETREAT" The next time you intend to go to that place, the mind has already formed an "anchor" between it and danger. So even before you reach there, you feel anxious! This builds the agoraphobic reaction and behaviors.
But does an agoraphobia treatment exist that reverses this?
The answer is absolutely YES!
By reducing anxiety back down to a 'normal' level, your agoraphobia will simply fade away. FACT! It is the only effective agoraphobia treatment... it is how ALL recovered agoraphobia and anxiety sufferers were able to return to normal, anxiety free lives.
The author is an ex OCD sufferer who has since recovered from all symptoms of OCD through his own research and findings. He concluded that Anxiety Disorder related symptoms can never be treated with medications or drugs. Anxiety Disorder are behavioral conditions and NOT any kind of illness.
