Hi. My name is Greg Marcel. I am a small business internet marketing consultant in Philadelphia.
My company is 2140 Interactive. Our niche is helping you market your niche through internet marketing. Because if no one can find you online, you don't exist.
In the next few minutes I'm going to give you an overview of one form of internet marketing, social media marketing. I'll explain why it is so important to your business, how to get started and what you can expect once you do.
Remember the not too distant past when the Yellow pages, newspapers and T.V. were the only games in town?
Those days are gone.
Today, when people are looking for information they go straight to the Internet. They do it at work, at home and even from their phone.
Did you know that there are 2 million Google Searches conducted every minute. Of those, 20% are related to location which means that 400,000 people are searching for local businesses every minute of every day!! And some of those people are searching for the type of product or service that you offer.
Social Media Marketing is a way for you to expose yourself to, and communicate with, those people on the Internet who are looking for exactly what it is you do.
How do I do that, you ask?
Here's how.
There are thousands of websites online that make it really easy for the average person to get content on the Internet.
They include social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Social bookmarking sites like Squidoo, Digg and Delicious. Social media sharing sites like YouTube, Viddler and Vimeo…………. and many, many more.
You don't have to deal with all of them though. In all, when we set up a social media campaign for a client, we establish a relationship with about 130 of the most popular search engine friendly websites.
So what do I do on these websites?
There's really only a couple of things you need to do.
- Provide quality content (so that people can find you).
- Capture their information (so you can stay in touch with them).
- Keep providing quality content (so that people get to know you, like you and trust you).
Provide quality content? You mean l should try and sell my quality stuff….. right?
Actually, no! You provide quality content in the form of your expertise. You do this via blog posts, articles, podcasts and videos. You have a conversation with your online audience so that they get to learn more about you and what it is you do.
Hey this might come as a shocker but you do not make money with social media marketing!!! You make money by doing business with people who know, like and trust you.
You share your expertise with social media marketing. You build a strong foundation for your online relationships. You increase your visibility, which increases your referrals. You establish credibility, which demands higher prices. You build trust and position yourself as an expert in your field.
So build a strong foundation for your online image through a well thought out, effective and consistent social media marketing campaign.
Because if no one can find you online, you don't exist.
