Whether travelling domestically or internationally, a passenger wondering what to expect from airport shuttle in Seattle will find a wide range of options available, at a range of prices. Most services run almost continuously throughout the day and night, so there is little chance of getting stranded at Sea-Tac airport. However keep in mind that night services are less frequent.
This port serves Seattle and Tacoma, Washington and the rest of western Washington. There are several taxi firms dedicated solely to airport transfers. As well as local shuttle services, public transportation also connects the airport with various destinations.
With so many choices, there is something to suit every budget. These services not only transfer passengers to central Seattle and its surrounds, but also to other major cities in the United States.
Reservations for all services can be made in advance either on the phone or online, or tickets bought on the day from the relevant ticketing booth. Reservations are recommended to avoid disappointment. This is especially important on the way to catch a flight, or even after a long trip, when getting to your bed quickly and easily is a priority.
Express shuttles can be caught either to or from the airport. As well as town cars, some companies also provide limos and buses on a charter basis. Most offer a discount for groups. Travellers enjoy a door-to-door service in a shared ride to most areas in and around Seattle, such as Puyallup, Redmond, Renton, Steilacoom, Totem Lake and Woodinville, amongst others.
Typically the shuttle vehicle is a van. Journey time into central Seattle is approximately 20 - 30 minutes or 30 - 40 minutes to Tacoma. Of course, if there is traffic, this will vary. Major hospitals, ferry terminals and air force bases are also on these routes. Another shuttle runs once a day to Vancouver, Canada, and yet another goes to Vashon Island. Whitbey Island, 48 km from Seattle, has a separate shuttle of its own. If travelling to the airport, customers are conveniently dropped off at their airline.
A cheaper option is a private bus, although these buses do not operate as frequently as the shuttles. One service runs twice daily to Port Angeles, Sequim, Discovery Bay, Port Townsend and Kingston. An alternative bus service departs twice an hour from 6:30 a.m. To 9:00 p.m., to and from all major downtown Seattle hotels.
Courtesy pick ups may also be arranged through hotels and motels. These have their own collection and arrival areas at the airport and have an off-site parking lot. The airport can also be reached by public transport, either by bus or by rail. The new Sea-TAC/Airport Station opened on December 19, 2009. The Ground Transportation Information Booth at the airport can provide schedules and timetables.
It is always advisable to check before you travel. However, as well served as Sea-Tac Airport is, a traveler who knows what to expect from airport shuffle in Seattle will find it's no problem to have a smooth take-off or landing, followed by an easy ride to their final destination.
