Have you ever faced the problem of bleeding gums, while brushing your teeth? Well, let's say not every time, but at least sometimes it happened, right? And what are you doing? I think I would not be mistaken if I suppose - nothing. Most likely, you say: "Nonsense! This is not cause for concern? Is it worth to run to the dentist?" Yes it is! With bleeding gums usually starts very insidious disease - periodontitis. This is one of the very serious and difficult to treat diseases of our teeth.
Why is it subtle?
Periodontitis relatively shifts from acute to chronic disease. Chronic periodontitis goes wavy: exacerbations alternating with remissions. Chronic periodontitis weakens the protective functions of the mouth and causes common infectious diseases of viral nature.
Neglected periodontitis results in losing healthy teeth, festering disease of the mucous membranes, tumors of the gums.
Treatment depends on the disease progresses
Periodontitis in the early stages is treated with ultrasonic cleaning of tartar and rinsing the mouth with anti-inflammatory drugs or herbal preparations.
Treatment of periodontitis in early stage except cleaning tartar requires intensive specialized pockets rinsing with potent drugs. But treatment is not complicated and it achieves significant improvements in the short term.
In moderate periodontitis curettage of gingival pockets should be done to your teeth, and for this purpose, under local anesthesia should be removed tartar accumulated under the gums, but also the infected tissue of the pocket itself and polish the surface of the tooth roots. And sometimes for the recovery of the microflora in the pockets, it is necessary to introduce gel preparations containing antibiotics, which carries a risk of complications and side effects.
Severe stage of periodontitis is treated only by a serious interference, which cannot be done without removal of the affected teeth, or even through a surgery to transplant tissues. At the same time, a treatment to strengthen bone tissue must be carried out, and the membrane method is applied to restore it.
It is clear that periodontitis, just like any diagnosis, has the same pattern: the lower the stage – at that stage the disease is treated easy. And the best and most literate is prevention.
Preventive measures include:
• Use various types of toothpaste, and correctly selected gum paste.
• Dental pastes for gums should be a minimum of 3 and they should be alternated.
• Clean your teeth carefully, including the gums.
• Brush your teeth at least 2 times a day.
• Replace your toothbrush every 3 months.
• After eating, rinse your mouth with clean water.
• Once in six months visit your dentist and let him/her check your teeth.
Our body is created by nature very wisely. It can "send" us signals in advance for the presence of one or other problems, including for Periodontitis. So DO NOT be sloppy and take a good care of your teeth.
