Oh, oh, handmade jewelry of every type is hanging all over your desk, draws, boxes, and shelving. Allow me to talk about five tips for organizing and displaying handmade jewelry to help prepare your retail inventory.
A wonderful hobby that you enjoy has you realizing that you did not prepare for the craziness of getting addicted to becoming a jewelry designer. It is a crazy good situation, but one that says it is time to retail your merchandise. You have loved every beaded necklace, bracelet, earrings, pendants, charms, animals, and flowers that you have made; nevertheless, it is time to retail inventory.
Purchase display units if you wish to display your gold, silver, cut glass, pearls and more expensive or high end fashion jewelry designs. This article is written for handmade jewelry which deserves some artistic displaying twists to enhance original fashion jewelry designs.
Checklist of displaying props:
• Rocks or round stones
• Glassware and bottles
• Bare tree limbs, half of a hollow log
• Ceramic or clay statues, bowls, and other art deco ornaments
• Garden and yard ornaments
• Seashells and driftwood
Use the above as is and hang your necklaces, earrings, and bracelets on appropriate areas of these props as they are or you may need to drive nails or screws into certain areas to help anchor hanging jewelry.
Arrange rocks, stones, and logs creating a pattern on the display table. Drape velvet or a combination of different fabrics like suede or satin covering your arrangement.
Use your hands to form hills and valleys to position an attractive collection of beaded necklaces, bracelets, and earrings.
Drape your gold chains, silver chains and heavier jewelry creations in the valleys as though creating a road or a river bed. Picture how you wish to set up your display. Collect natural stones, logs, etc then drape.
It is recommended that you practice so that when you arrive at the retailing destination the display can be erected quickly.
Take a photo of your display. A photo may be needed for promotional purposes, advertising and marketing. The photo is also a reminder of how your display is to be set up in the event this task is assigned to your helper.
Do you specialize in a particular type of jewelry design, such as ethnic or bridal?
Ethnic jewelry
Set the mood using articles that represent the country or the people. For instance, use tropical flowers, tropical printed cloth, or paintings of tropical people. Keep in mind that your ethnic jewelry designs will be gracing your props. This arrangement will help bring wonderful memories to mind of when your customers had visited these countries or peoples and a purchase will be made.
Bridal Jewelry
Decorate your display table with lace, chiffon, satin, linen, garter belts, wedding cake, or other wedding props. Eighty percent of people are visual. Props help them to see.
When the bride enters your display area the wedding props will help her to see which necklace, bracelet or pair of earrings will be perfect for accessorizing her bridal gown.
