So, you want to lose weight but no matter how hard you try the FAD diets are just not doing it for you. Its a simple fact and most of us know that we need to exercise if we want to get rid of that extra layer of fat that makes us look and feel overweight. One of the real problems is that if you haven't done any serious exercise in a while, then starting can be a real painful experience both mentally and physically.
A treadmill is a great piece of exercise equipment to own. In fact, its the only one you really need as exercising on a treadmill can be more than sufficient for reaching your weight loss goals. Having the comfort of exercising in your own home can do away with many of the common excuses that tends to keep you out of the gym.
Many people have the wrong idea when it comes to running and treadmill training. If you think that you need to run for hours on end and sweat like a pig to lose weight, then think again. With modern treadmills you can lose weight very effectively without killing yourself.
It all comes down to hear rate. Some of the better treadmill have heart rate monitors built in and most of the top brand heart rate monitors are compatible with the machine itself. This can help you to be more efficient during your workout because training at the optimal heart rate is the key to losing weight when you exercise.
The optimal fat burning zone is about 60% of your maximum heart rate and if you can maintain that level for 30-45 minutes a day you will lose weight - its a scientifically proven fact. With a treadmill its easy to control this by simply adjusting the intensity and speed of your run (or walk). When you first start out, just a brisk walk will probably get you up to that level, but as you start getting fitter and lighter you will quickly work it up to a level where you can run without feeling any pain or discomfort.
