The Wood for the Trees - Being in the Helicopter as the Business Coach.

Bringing an independent perspective into a business, allows a business coach to really add value - but at what cost?

I am a business coach. There's no hiding the fact. I'm also a business consultant, a marketing consultant, a social media consultant, a personal productivity expert and a 'profit generator' - a person who has the tools to bring to any business and help them make more profits than they are before they met me. I'm not sharing this as a 'blow my trumpet', but more of a way to explain what business coaches do.

Sometimes business coaches use the harry potter dark arts to mystify business owners as to their value.

I've defined a different model, where I bill based on results, and so with skin in the game, my focus is to make my clients, the business owners, lots more money, and we both share in the rewards, hence The Profit Partnership.

A recent experience of my results as a Business Coach

I'll share one recent example of a start-up business, that as I write this is four weeks old. What has happened in the last three weeks?

1.The company was incorporated, accounts setup

  1. Administration/Support staff were hired

  2. An ecommerce website was established as the primary vehicle for sales

  3. Seven marketing channels were established and run simultaneously, leveraging social media for 50% of those

  4. A pilot company very graciously became our pilot and helped us as a customer, and we have both profited from the experience

  5. We appeared in the NZ Herald on Saturday (11th Dec) as "One of the Top Four Places to buy Mince Tarts from"

  6. We've had almost 700 unique visitors to our website (170 came to us after the newspaper article).

  7. We've got almost 200 facebook fans, and when last checked 2,400 people looked at the facebook fan page today (that's free advertising by the way).

  8. If you search 'cakes online auckland' we are number 2,3,4,5 & 6 on google.

  9. We're breaking even in week 4.

That's not bad for 4 weeks. And there is a whole lot more to come.

So which company has achieved these results with a Business Coach?

Who is the company? Cakes Online, that you can find at www cakesonline co nz or facebook.com/cakesonline.

So that's what I've done as a Business Coach in the past 4 weeks. Cakes Online is one client from my portfolio of clients.

I guess as a Business Coach, if you prove yourself through results, then you're doing your job - getting the best out of the business owner, which is why I gave up a lucrative expatriate role to come back to NZ and follow my passion of helping others.

And I'm loving every moment.

Until next time,

Jamie
