One of the biggest problems people encounter when starting a fitness program is rapidly depleted motivation after only a few weeks due to an overly ambitious fitness program. Attempting to do too much too fast is worse than doing nothing at all. Lifting weights for more than 45 minutes or doing cardio for longer than 60 minutes can actually cause you to gain weight, lead to injuries, and set you up for failure. Try to fit in short bursts of exercise whenever it's convenient and you'll boost your metabolism more than you would during a two hour session.
We know that the human body is energy, something like 99.999 formless and the rest is what we call solid form. We should choose food with that in mind. Find foods that are alive with energy; then, eat them with consciousness and be grateful that our bodies can incorporate the energy of the foods we are eating. Foods ingested with a blessing or giving of thanks go down much better than foods eaten without that consciousness. If you don't plan rest or schedule recovery days in your training, you limit your ability to train. Your body actually gets stronger after exercise stress, so you need to allow down time for rebuilding muscle tissue. An effective training program will have regular periods of rest and recovery. This also allows adaptation to the exercise you return bigger, stronger and faster.
Rest also allows you to recover mentally and emotionally and avoid exercise burn-out. Building strength is one of the fastest ways to improve your sports performance and train more efficiently. You can spend hours running, cycling or playing your sport, but a few weight training sessions each week will add strength, power, and help reduce your risk of injury. Interval training has been the basis for exercise routines for years. It involves alternating short, fast bursts of intense exercise with slow, easy activity. Interval training works both the aerobic and the anaerobic system, and it results in improved conditioning of the cardiovascular system. Once you become hooked on exercise, the benefits add up quickly. You can lose weight, boost your mood, lower your blood pressure, and even improve your cholesterol profile.
