Hi Everyone! My name is Sandra. For this article, I decided to talk about the top 5 symptoms of cold sores. Cold sores are very common and a lot of people deal with them. However, many people don't completely understand cold sores. I have a lot of people ask me just what are the symptoms of a cold sore? Many people get cold sores and canker sores mixed up, and so it can be difficult to identify which is which. So with this article, I am going to discuss the top 5 symptoms of cold sores in hopes of clearing up the confusion. With that, let's get right to the article!
- Blisters On Your Mouth
This is by far the most common cold sore symptom. If you are noticing blisters on your mouth, this can definitely be a type of cold sore. These blisters are usually fairly small and occur on the lips. Occasionally though, they can occur on the edge of your mouth as well.
- Difficulty Eating
If you are having difficulty eating because of some type of sore, it is like to be a cold sore. With cold sores, eating can be very difficult as can drinking and even sleeping. It can be very painful.
- Soar Throat
Another symptom of cold sores is a soar throat. However, if you have a soar throat, make sure there is a sore of some sort before concluding its a cold sore. If you don't feel any type of blister but you have a soar throat, then it may be the flu or some other type of illness.
- Drooling
Although this symptom isn't as common in adults, drooling can be a symptom of cold sores with children. This can often be because the children are having trouble eating or swallowing and therefore tend to drool to avoid the pain. If you are noticing that your child has been drooling a lot lately, you should check their mouth for sores.
- Tingling Feeling
Finally, if you are noticing a type of tingling feeling in the skin, this can be one of the first signs of a possible cold sore. At this point, the blister will have not even appeared yet. The blister can soon appear but it can also take as long as a week.
I hope you found this article informative. Like I mentioned earlier, figuring out the symptoms of a cold sore from other types of sores can be difficult, but I hope with this article you understand cold sores better and will know how to better identify these unpleasant cold sores. Cold sores are very painful, but knowing the symptoms is the first way to begin battling them. Good luck!
