"Super Life Secret Codes," is a recent Viking release by author Great Sun that presents "life codes" to readers, which the author claims will help them to connect to the Universe and ward off disastrous consequences that threaten to overwhelm mankind and the planet Earth. The book starts off as a personal narrative by Great Sun, a California mystic, who describes his own spiritual pilgrimage, which culminated with his meetings in 2005 with Friend G., a charismatic spiritual leader who taught Great Sun how to connect and also listen to the Universe. Following those meetings Great Sun gained renown as a spiritual healer in his own right , helping many to find the right road in their lives and find health, happiness and success in their careers and relationships.

During the time that Great Sun met with Friend G, he learned about many natural disasters that would occur in the world between 2005 and 2010. As described by Great Sun, each of these disasters took place exactly as described by Friend G. Friend G. asked Great Sun to make a movie entitled 2012, and he also talked about disasters that would occur in the year 2012, the end of the Mayan long count calendar. In Great Sun's words:

"When Friend G mentioned what would happen in 2012, I thought it was too early to start worrying. But now I realized that people should reevaluate their lives immediately and figure out the critical processes that should be taken to protect our Earth and make the world a better place."

Great Sun never made the movie, but another 2012 was produced. Subsequently, he decided to write a book and present secret codes that he believes will help modern man reconnect to the Universe and potentially avert the many dangers that threaten to engulf us in the near future; including such dangers as natural disasters, wars, global warming, and environmental pollution.

The book is a description of those secret codes, interspersed with stories of how Great Sun has used the codes in his work with people in need, and how they have been helped. In several places in the book, Great Sun presents meditation techniques which people can employ to reconnect to the Universe, and at times he presents advice on living, nutrition on Feng shui, preparation of the house and other practical matters.

Although the book might be classified as spiritual advice, the book is non-sectarian. Great Sun's spiritual path is refreshingly focused on the here and now. His advice is meant to help create happiness and success in jobs, professions, relationships and family and is not designed to induce other worldly experiences. When he does talk at all about the spiritual world, he he is frequently given to take examples taken from engineering, physics and modern science to explain how all men are connected to the Universe. Great Sun writes that bycoming in harmony with the Universe, using his secret codes, man can potentially survive the disasters of the future. He justifies this belief through exposition given in different chapters of his book.

After his introductory story and the presentation of the codes, which together take up the first four chapters of the book the author goes on, in Chapter 5, to talk about the great benefit of avoiding negativity. In the next chapter he points out that life is complex and people wishing to benefit from the techniques he is offering must work diligently when using them. In Chapter 7, Great Sun talks about the miracles and benefits that come from the Sun. At the conclusion of the chapter he presents an exercise which people can use to fill themselves with the great energy that it eminates In chapters 8, 9,11, 12 and 13 Sun applies his teachings to many practical situations in life, including day to day living, marriage, nutrition, the home and breathing.

Great Sun's approach to healing, which involves identifying the source of the problem, is reminiscent of Sigmund Freud. However, Great Sun makes no claim to be a Doctor and his approach to helping people return to health differs in that he advices repentance for mistakes of the past and offers suggestions for improvement that includes imbibing the energy of the Universe, practicing Feng shui, eating a wholesome diet, avoiding negativity and other practices that won't be found in Freud's teachings.

In Chapter 10, Great Sun tells how his teachings will only benefit people who are open to its ability to help them and he uses a real life story to illustrate his point. In Chapter 14 Great Sun describes a personal experience he had in which he rose to the formative world and saw a vision of the punitive disasters that the Earth might face in the future as technologically oriented man separates further and further with the natural Universe. In Chapter 15, Great Sun offers additional encouragement and additional exercises that readers can use to channel the energy of the Sun and the Universe into their lives. In the final Chapter, 16, the author exhorts his readers to begin their efforts now.

The book contains an appendix containing personal epistles from the author to heads of state, to heads of religion, to readers of the book and even the angels. Great Sun's language in these letters in strikingly harsh as he writes about dire consequences that might come in the near future if man continues polluting the planet's atmosphere and destroying the Earth. Great Sun's writings are far from sanguine and his letter to religious leaders, warning of dread punishments from nature if they continue to stand between their constituency and the Universe, rises to a level of caustic polemic reminiscent of the late Mark Twain.

The book is about real people and is directed to real people, people who are seriously struggling to make it in life and survive in our modern technological world. These are the very people who need a way to maintain their connection to the Universe and not be dragged into the toxic byproducts of our complex modern living, which not only poison our bodies, but also our efforts to be successful in finding a mate, forming a relationship, getting married, have a happy family life and economic success. The focus on real living and the presentation of solutions for real problems and struggles is the book's appeal, as are the interesting stories about rare individuals, especially Friend G. and Great Sun.

If you are looking for a book that has answers to life's mysteries, but is not heavy or ponderous, this is an ideal choice.
