Jeff Bridges a.k.a. ‘The Dude’ of ‘The Big Lebowski ’, is only the latest name in a long list of greats that have hosted one of the most distinctive and important shows in television history. A show that gave us the likes of Bill Murray, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, George Carlin, Dan Ackroyd, and many, many more, also happens to be not quite primetime material! Yes, I am talking about Saturday Night Live, a live late night television sketch comedy and variety show, that has now completed thirty five seasons, and running into its thirty sixth! A show that has been ranked tenth on TV Guide’s ’50 Greatest TV Shows of all time’ list, and on the list of Time magazine’s ‘100 Best TV Shows of all time’, continues to grow from strength to strength.
The show’s sketches involve parodying of contemporary American politics and culture. Most recently, there have been appearances made by the likes of Presidential candidates Al Gore, Barack Obama, and a surprisingly witty George Bush (the junior). Satire is something that the show excels at. The typical Saturday Night Live episodes feature a single host, who delivers the opening monologue and performs in the sketches with the rest of the cast, along with a single musical guest, who belt out two to three of their songs. For example, Jeff Bridges (minus the beard!) is the host, and Eminem is the musical guest of the upcoming episode, and Jim Carrey is all set to host the first episode of the next year. Indeed, a great treat is in store for the viewers, a chance to be entertained by the very best in the entertainment industry!
This website provides you with the opportunity to watch Saturday Night Live online, so that you get the best quality picture and crystal clear sound, that enhances your viewing experience. Moreover, you will get the chance to watch those classic episodes that you missed at the time of their original airing. After all, who would want to miss out on the Ashlee Simpson incident or the Sinead O’ Connor incident? Get hold of Saturday Night Live, so that you can access these memorable moments, embarrassing faux–pas, great music, and of course, loads of humor and gigs, spread across all of the 690 episodes!
Since October 11, 1975, when the show was first telecast, and over the course of 36 Saturday Night Live seasons, it has passed from the realm of being ‘just another show’, into a cultural phenomenon, loved, idolized, loathed, and dissected by many. More than just being a vehicle for humor, it provides for a biting analysis of the way the world is.
