Researches show that about 8.7 of every 10,000 children are autistic and more than 1 in 300 children have some manifestations of autism. These points are not very nice to hear but they are showing the circulating situation.
Autism is described as a disorder in building up that influence on the children from birth till the age of three. These children show crisis in developing normal relationships with others in three areas of manner of conducting oneself - social relationships and interactions; language and communication; their acts and interests.
The cause of autism keeps on undiscovered but the parents and the authorities are taking their best to resolve it. One of the theorems is that it is about some accident to the brain, that has happened perhaps prenatally, despite this has not been decisively proved, but also maybe are guilty some genetic or chromosomal abnormality, viral agents, metabolic disorders, immune intolerance or prenatal anoxia.
There are many programs for treating autism, all fixed on detecting a way to make the autistic individual communicate more completely, using social skills trainings. One of the methods that appears very effective for this disorder is the hippo therapy or horse therapy. It’s a fact that the children love horses; they are dazzled by their figure, their power, love to play with horse toys, play horse games. In this situation their communication with them is based not only on playing, but on some way of closer cooperating.
Horse therapy is a denomination used to describe the movement of a horse as part of a treatment procedure used by physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Psychiatrists have realized that children with autism struggle to communicate but when they are with horses, they could attain so much. It's not only about teaching to ride or horse care skills, the thing is that it's been clinically proven that just being pretty near of horses, changes our brainwave patterns. Doctor Franklin Levinson affirms that the horses have a sedative effects that help people to stop becoming fixated on past or on the negative circumstances.
It’s been proven the children can usually manage a horse more easily and more quickly than adults, actualizing an equal relationship more readily than trying to control. A child who is given just a little acuity into dealing with a horse can easily become the natural leader the horse is looking for. The horse feels in safety and friendly and for return cooperates with the child.
This way the child can augment his communication skills, his psychological, behavioural and cognitive functioning, his motor skills and coordination, his sensory integration, but also and his muscle tone, head and trunk control, postural control, his strength and cardiovascular conditioning.
