Wrong posture, the cause of many problems

Many Italians have a wrong posture. This might cause arthro-muscle problems and other disorders.
Do you have back pain, difficulty with your eyesight or clicking jaw? If you do, you are likely to have a problem of posture, which can be solved asking a help from a posturologist, if you do that promptly. The first multidisciplinary conference on posture held in Rome this year has brought out the fact that an Italian out of four has posture problems that inevitably have consequences on health. And the problems deriving from a wrong posture do not only affect the skeletal and muscular systems; back pain is certainly the typical disease deriving from a wrong posture, which can cause also other problems: sight problems, for example, which affect above all children.
The lifestyle of the third millennium, consisting of hours spent in front of a pc, wrong shoes and weights to carry, certainly makes our bodies be subject to considerable stress, and back pain, sight problems and stiff neck might be consequences of that. As far as back pain is concerned, it can be caused by a series of factors: sedentariness and wrong posture, first of all, then wrong shoes and excessive weights carried throughout the day. The accumulation of these factors results in an alteration of the physiological curvature of the spine and in the consequent wear of the intervertebral discs, which dry out and collapse.
You might think that women are most affected by these problems, as they are more used to follow the trends of fashion, which imposes the use of maxibags, flat pumps or high-heeled shoes – which can cause problems to the back - , but the latest conference of the Italian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology has brought out the fact that also men have bad behaviours to keep pace with the latest technologic innovations. About two millions Italian men suffer from backache, and these problems are caused in part by the accessories that men use and have with them throughout the day. Besides wrong shoes and the habit of keeping the wallet in the back pocket even while driving or seated for a long time, also hi-tech products can cause some serious problems: laptops, iPad, smartphone, diaries … all these electronic products together can weigh up to 5 kilos, while the maximum weight to carry on shoulders should be 2 kilos. Also the handiness of modern netbooks can have negative consequences, as you can use them also when you are lying down, while it would be better to use them while seated, keeping your back straight and your shoulders relaxed.
But what are the solutions that you can adopt to solve the back problems deriving from wrong posture and lifestyle? If you do not disregard the problem and you intervene in time, you can start having a right posture, perhaps making posture correction exercises and more sport. A global posture reeducation, a healthier lifestyle and a series of little devices (from your position while seated to the limitation of the weight you carry) might solve your back problems.
