You may think that promotional gifts will be equally popular and used equally as much throughout the year. The fact is that there are some promotional gifts that will work better if they are handed out during the summer and others that will go over better if they are kept until cooler weather. By anticipating these changes in popularity you will be able to make sure that your company is giving out timely gifts that will be used as much as possible.
The effect of weather on popularity
The fact is that weather can often affect how well a gift will go over. If you are giving promotional gifts that take weather into consideration you will usually find that your promotional items will be much better received than if you simply give them out at random. There are some promotional gifts that will work equally well no matter when you give them but they are few and far between.
Of course, the gifts you give will also depend largely on your budget, your target audience and your personal preference as well. Only you will know whether a particular item will work well as a promotional gift or not.
Spring
In many areas springtime weather can be quite cool and damp. Items that repel water such as umbrellas and raingear will usually be very well received. In early spring, when the temperature may still be quite cool you may find that items which can help someone keep warm may also be helpful. Companies that are in the gardening industry may find that seeds or other landscaping items will work well at this time of year.
Summer
Summer can be a great time for promotional gifts. You can choose from items such as picnic baskets, sun hats, flip flops or bags that can carry all of your items from one area to the next. You may find that items designed for use outside will be the most visible as many people spend the majority of their time enjoying the warm weather.
Fall
Weather in fall is beginning to cool off. Like spring, the weather tends to be cool and damp. Again, many of the same gifts that worked well in the spring will work well during the fall as well. You may also want to pick gifts that help people prepare for the coming winter as well.
Winter
Winter can be a difficult time for people. You may want to look at gifts such as portable coffee mugs, warm jackets and sweaters or other items that can help people keep warm during the winter. Knowing what the temperature is like where you will be handing out gifts can also help you decide which will be the best items to give your customers.
