Internet marketers have likened the email list to an ATM or a Goldmine which can generate income virtually upon command.
As a matter of fact, this is correct. Having a list of dedicated contacts is a necessity for your internet marketing company to reach it's full potential. But during the process, you might want to avoid certain mistakes that will only make things worse. Regardless of what you may have heard, creating an email list can be tough. Things may go good, then bad, and back and forth like this for a period of time prior to making any real money. But if you do your homework well in advance and start with the right tools and knowledge, then your chances of success go higher.
I'd like to share with you some tips for avoiding some common errors in email list construction to help your Internet business make the best income possible.
Building a list from an incorrect place is a prevalent blunder made by many marketing novices. You might ask what exactly that entails. A number of people are under the impression that they will be able to purchase lists. Yes, ready made lists served piping hot. Sound a little far-fetched? If it seems a little unbelievable, it probably is. The catch in this instance is that you're paying for something that simple will NOT work correctly. The first thing you will face is a bombardment of objections from the email recipients for sending what they see as spam. It doesn't end with paying a nice chunk of change for an email list. You've literally just bought a list of names that the majority of could care less about you or your product. Even further, many of those addresses belong to junk emails that people don't even check. Having a mere six or seven interested buyers out of literally thousands of "opt-ins" is absolutely frustrating. Just be positive and remember that there is no way to bypass the work needed to build a profitable list. The only way to see some REAL MONEY in this industry is to do some REAL WORK!
Another classic blunder that some online businesses commit is having their "JOIN HERE" button somewhere on the bottom half of the web-page. Basically, you need site visitors to be able to see right where they can go to opt-in when they open up your page, not after scrolling below. Make your "subscribe here" button easily seen, and instantly seen. When it falls below the screen, most people who come to your site won't know where to go next. Remember that some people are just not very computer savvy, and we can't take for granted that they'll just understand. Take into account all people. Some will know their way around and will need little assistance, while others basically must be led by the hand every step of the way or they will get lost and never figure out where to go.
Ultimately, you should approach your internet marketing lists correctly, and make sure that your efforts are consistent. This one aspect of the market will determine the success in your business.
A well-built list, acquired correctly, could continue to provide revenue in the unfortunate event that you lost everything. So treat it like gold and build a relationship with your subscribers by sending out useful information from time to time. Your contact list is at the core of your marketing efforts, so don't do anything that might damage this source of income.
