One of the most underrated aspects of the wealth puzzle is time, believe it

or not. Each one of us has 86,400 seconds each day; no one has any more or

any less. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from – you get

24 hours in each day, 60 minutes in each hour, 60 seconds in each hour. The

question is what are you doing with your 86,400 seconds?

Time is a critical component for those looking to develop a 7-figure income.

It surprises me that even when I’m talking with some high income earners,

one of the most common comments I hear is, "Well, I just don’t have time

to [finish that report, make changes to get me to the income I’m looking

for, get to my son’s/daughter’s soccer match …fill in your excuse.]."

Well, if that’s you, then let’s help you gain control of your time so you

can do all the things you must in order to create the life you want for you

and your family. Remember, if you’re not planning your day, it’s planning

you and that’s where things can get off track very easily! So, how do you

make sure you have control of your time?

  1. Create a Schedule not an Excuse. I have my schedule planned out for the

next 12 months. How about you? Do you know where you need to be in April?

What about what’s going on in September? You may not know all the little

details, minute by minute, but you should know what you must accomplish and

where you need to be at least six months out.

  1. Divide your schedule into 90-day segments. This makes it easier to ensure

your goals are met and if you do get off track, you aren’t finding this out

at the end of your year. You can make course corrections more quickly and get

back to doing what you need to do. Accountability to your schedule will

ensure you have the time available to meet your goals.

  1. Work with your family to ensure their activities are included in your

plans. When your family is on board and they know they have importance in

your schedule they will become your supporters. When you’re lost time-wise,

your family will question both your commitment to providing for their needs

as well as your commitment to them individually.

  1. Celebrate when you reach a milestone. When you give your family a special

reward when you reach a goal, they will be more likely to become your

champion and encourage you to achieve even more. If you land that elusive

client, for example, why not do something spectacular? A trip to a favorite

spot (Las Vegas, Disneyland, or a beach weekend all come to mind) is a super

way to keep you on track to success!

Don’t be one of the folks who fall into a trap of two bad habits – not

managing your time and creating excuses why you didn’t. As you plan your

time, make sure you include the critical things it will take to move you to

the next level. Watch the timewasters in your life – if you find you’re

surfing the Net, or watching the tube a lot, start noting down the amount of

time you’re spending on those activities – I’ll bet you get a huge

wakeup call! What if you spent those three or four (maybe it’s five or

six?) hours working on the top three things you need to make a big change in

your income and your life? What are you finding is getting in the way of your

success? Comment below – I look forward to hearing from you.
