Many medical facilities with specialties in urgent care, radiology and more are looking at methods to improve patient care in the New Year. They also want to learn about additional ways to increase income in order to continue to provide superior care for their patients. It is for these and other reasons that many clinical specialty offices decide to include mobile x-ray systems to their line up of diagnostic tools. When the mobile x-ray component is added to your other digital radiology systems, which can include a PACS, DICOM viewer, server, network, printer and more, you will be able to increase the flexibility of your entire digital x-ray capabilities.
An offsite radiology system works in the same ways as your onsite radiology room, with a few exceptions. Both types of systems can utilize CR or DR digital imaging technology, so that there is no downtime devoted to lengthy training sessions before you and your staff are proficient at working the system. Both onsite and offsite systems produce digital images in the DICOM medical imaging format, which makes mobile image capture systems compatible with your DICOM viewer and other radiology equipment back at your office.
Your digital x-rays taken in a mobile environment can be edited through the use of a PACS system, DICOM viewer and clinical workstation software just as your digital images taken at your office can. Because both on- and off-site images are formatted in DICOM, you can also store your images in the same servers for your convenience.
The digital imaging systems are different in terms of weight. Mobile medical components can weigh as little as eighty-eight pounds, and be maneuvered easily and efficiently when they are loaded onto a wheeled cart. Mobile systems can also utilize a wireless internet connection. When you have a basic clinical workstation with you when you are seeing patients out in the field, you can take digital images, view them to make sure they are of appropriate quality, and then transmit them back to a server for storage or to your home office for additional study through a secure internet connection.
By adding a mobile radiology system to your existing array of digital x-ray equipment, you can improve patient care by providing the ability to go to your patients rather than they coming to see you, which may be impossible in certain circumstances. This allows you to treat more patients than you could otherwise, improving both your bottom line as well as patient care.
